Emergency or retroactive applications for a TUE will be considered only when:

• Emergency treatment or treatment of an acute medical condition was necessary
  
  
• Due to exceptional circumstances, there was insufficient time or opportunity for the athlete to submit, or for the relevant TUE Committee to consider, an application prior to Doping Control

An athlete should not assume that by submitting a TUE application it will be granted. Any use or possession of a Prohibited Substance or Method before an application has been granted shall be entirely at the athlete’s own risk.

Late submission of an ATUE (but prior to Doping Control) is acceptable only upon receipt of a fully and accurately completed ATUE application form. Athletes should keep a copy of the application and supporting documentation sent to UK Sport, along with a receipt (if possible) as proof of the date the TUE application was posted/emailed/faxed.
