Outreach is designed to offer education and advice on anti-doping issues to athletes, athlete support personnel, and parents through attendance at sports events, workshops, training sessions and conferences across the UK. Visiting an Outreach Zone at an event, attending a 100% ME workshop, or having sole interaction with a 100% ME Tutor or Adviser should offer high quality education and information that is relevant and reliable.
The 100% ME Outreach Programme aims to offer many benefits to athletes and athlete support personnel including:
- Direct access to experts to discuss anti-doping rules and regulations
- Interactive and engaging ways of learning about anti-doping and understanding the value of drug-free sport
- The opportunity to meet and speak with 100% ME Ambassadors about anti-doping
- A forum to share ideas and show support for the principles of drug-free sport
- Practical demonstrations of key services, including UK Sport’s Drug Information Database and ADAMS (Anti-Doping Administration and Management System)
- Access to a range of anti-doping education and information resources.
Outreach is only one avenue by which the 100% ME Programme is delivered. Outreach is a way of promoting anti-doping by ‘reaching out’ to athletes, parents and athlete support personnel to raise awareness and understanding of anti-doping issues that directly affect them. Visiting an Outreach Zone should be an experience for athletes and their entourage and attending a workshop should have a lasting effect.
The programme aims to improve the attitudes and knowledge of world class and next generation athletes by giving them direct access to education and information that is relevant and up to date.
UK Sport is committed to supporting drug-free athletes and their athlete support personnel through the provision of comprehensive and reliable education so they can make well informed, positive choices about drugs in sport.
National Governing Bodies (NGBs) also have a responsibility to educate and inform their members about policies and procedures, and UK Sport wants to help sports organisations to provide interactive and engaging education to athletes throughout the UK and be more accountable for whom they deliver education to.
