At the 2007 Tour de France Grand Départ in Hyde Park London, 100% ME set up an Outreach with three zones; a section where people could enter the Free Prize Draw to win a number of 100% ME Cycling Jerseys, a section with information and case studies and lastly a laptop computer zone where people could play the WADA quiz and the 100% ME Penalty Shoot-Out games to win prizes of 100% ME Merchandise.
An estimated 6,000 people entered the draw, and many cyclists and general public came in to the marquee to find out more about 100% ME, to obtain anti-doping advice and pick up some 100% ME freebies.
Bryan Steel (Olympic Silver Medallist, Team Pursuit, Athens 2004) one of our 100% ME Cycling Ambassadors was in attendance signing autographs and being pictured with budding cyclists of the next generation.
This was the first time 100% ME attended an event of this magnitude and geared to the general public, and it was a hugely successful three days. At times it was so busy in the Zone that the 100% ME crew that worked couldn’t even see the other side of the tent or any of our colleagues!
