Testing Programmes

Effective testing programmes are essential to tackling doping in sport.

At a high performance and elite level of your sporting career, you will be subject to out-of-competition testing. You may also be part of a National Registered Testing Pool (NRTP) and an International Registered Testing Pool (IRTP).

National Registered Testing Pool (NRTP)

The NRTP is a tool used by UK Anti-Doping to test athletes out-of-competition.

Athletes nominated for inclusion in the NRTP will be notified by UK Anti-Doping. They are required to supply their Whereabouts information on an online system called ADAMS (Anti-Doping Administration Management System).

Submission of an athlete’s whereabouts is called a Whereabouts Filing. Athletes have to provide a variety of details including a 60-minute time slot in which they make themselves available for out-of-competition testing at a designated location. Athletes from a range of sports are currently included in UK Anti-Doping’s NRTP. Additional athletes and sports can be selected or deselected at any time.

UK Anti-Doping’s Elite Athlete Support Policy supports and educates athletes in providing and updating detailed and accurate whereabouts information.

For further information visit the ADAMS section of the website.
